FAMILY
The history of El Capricho starts at the beginning of the 20th century, when Segundo Gordón, José’s grandfather, opened a winery in a cellar that he himself dug out in the land of Jiménez de Jamuz so that he could indulge his passion: winemaking. On summer days it also served as an outdoor restaurant and jugs of cool wine came accompanied by salads from the garden, delicious omelettes made from free-range eggs, home-made cheeses and cured meats, which locals and tourists enjoyed on luminous evenings that would last until dawn. The spirit of those first days is engraved in fire on the walls of our cellar, which today, as then, continues to be a place for meeting people, for conversation and for enjoying the best of products.
