We travel the mountains of León, Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia and Portugal, following a trail of hidden treasures, to find unique oxen that have survived changing trends. At heart, we are going in search of the past, in search of an authenticity in danger of extinction, in search of old, heavy, rustic specimens, in the hands of people who respect the character and rhythms of the animal they have shared their house and food with for years. We talk at great length with these people, we see where and how their oxen live and eat, we go into their barns and cowsheds, we walk through their pastures, and we touch the oxen to make sure they have not been fattened up in a hurry. Only then do we bring them back to El Capricho.
